Look Ahead: "Every Man For Himself"

The "official" synop:
Sawyer finds out how serious his captors are in making sure he and Kate don't attempt to escape.

The Others prevent Sawyer and Kate from escaping, leaving Sawyer perplexed by the extent of the measures taken to keep them imprisoned.

Jack is asked to use his medical training to save the life of one of the Others.

At the beach, Desmond's strange behavior attracts attention. He begins to construct a mysterious device.
I've heard that we'll get either a Sawyer or Kate flashback.  I haven't looked too hard into the matter but either would make sense.  I'm betting on Kate having to come to grips with admitting she loves Sawyer, as in the preview....

Looks like Ben is pretty well PO'd at Sawyer for planning (or maybe attempting?) an escape.  Guess we'll find out just what Sawyer (and Kate) are made of here.

We could pretty much piece together from 'Glass Ballerina' that Jack was going to be asked to work on the recently-punctured Colleen.  That's probably why Ben/Henry was buttering him up with all the talk of "going home."  I'm guessing they (The Others) are without a doctor after Ethan's untimely demise at the end of Charlie's .45. (Remember Ethan and Claire in the now-abandoned medical station?)

I wonder how much attention this thing with Desmond will receive?  And if it'll somehow tie into the Eko/Locke dynamic with their respective "missions"?  Is he going to become the "strange old wizard" type now?  Babbling incoherently, scratching his head "Rain Man" style and building mashed-potato mountains?

Thoughts?

I think that Desmond has been affected by magnetic force (clearly, after surviving the implosion), but it seems that we are going back to the "supernatural" element that made LOST so wacky in the first season. The whole polar bears in the tropics scenario. The black fog with pictures has to have something to do with Desmond's having survived the BOOM.

That Jack would be asked to tend to a medical emergency of the other's was predictable, but how it will play out will be fun to watch. I still can not concieve of how the others are going to work out to be the "good guys".

I hold out hope that at some point Sawyer sticks it too the others and breaks free.
