Looking Ahead to "I Do"

The "TV Guide" description for "I Do" reads as follows....
Jack makes a decision regarding Ben's offer; Kate feels helpless when it appears that Pickett (Michael Bowen) will carry out his threat to kill Sawyer; and Locke discovers a hidden message that may help him unlock the secrets of the island.
So Jack makes a decision regarding Ben's offer, eh?  Doesn't say if he makes a decision regarding Juliet's offer, though.  Wonder if they'll leave that as a cliffhanger?  Jack standing over an "open" Ben wondering what he should do...

This whole Kate & Sawyer thing, I'm just not feeling it, man.  Sorry.  I wonder whose "side" Pickett is on, though.  Ben's or Juliet's?  Jack's decision about what to do with Ben could influence Pickett one way or the other.

And Locke.  Once again the "Locke and Key" pokes its head up out of the beach sand to leave us hanging.  Will this message be something inside the Pearl that they haven't found yet?  Do they go after Eyepatch and find something there?  Will we have a funeral for Eko?

In any case, between Jack and Locke I suspect we'll have a bit of a cliffhanger to keep us guessing until February.

can anyone tell me what that thing was that killed Eko? Or where it came from. We haven't seen it since season 1.

It was the smoke monster. We don't really know what it is yet. It was in season 2 as well. Remember the episode in season 2 (The 23rd Psalm) where Eko sees the smoke monster and then it turns around and leaves?

The producers have also said that we have seen the smoke monster at times without realizing it. So it can appear as other things?

Off hand I don't know where it is, I'll have to look for it later. But it shows in slo-mo from the pilot where something (probably the smoke) seems to be racing around the plane as it breaks up, and then later causes the engine to explode on the beach.

Here is something that popped into my head about LOST this week.... What if everyone on the island (the plane survivors) really did not survive the crash and they're all dead and the island is their "hell"? Maybe we are just supposed to think they are alive and living on a strange island but really they died in the crash and are trapped there, being tormented because it is literally "hell" for them. The ones that appear to have died in the crash are, to me, the ones that may have died but went to "heaven" instead of "hell". Anyone think that's a possibility?

The I Do segment had the Firefly captain in it--Nathan Fillion. Love him.

What I wonder is why Sawyer believes Ben when he says they're on a separate island. So, why don't the people on the main island see the other island?

Note also that when Jack wants Ben to promise he'll be taken off the island, that if it is a separate island, he could comply by simply sending Jack back to the main island.

Of course, Jack was just lying to get Ben under the knife. Man, I hope they don't kill Sawyer. He's just finding his soul.
