Matthew Fox Talks Lost
An article (with some rather obnoxious Altoids ads I might say!) where Matthew Fox talks a bit about the show, his other work, and his thoughts on his character.

"I understand the audience missing some of those other dynamics, but the story is dictating right now that we're looking at the story more from The Others' perspective than our original survivors' perspective," he told us. "I think that's a really amazing thing that the show is doing. Because Jack is now part of those Othersâ??being held in captivity thereâ??I've gotten to work with these new actors and create completely new relationships and dynamics, and that's been really exciting for me. The stuff that's happening between Jack and Juliette and Jack and Ben and the relationships that my character has with The Others, I think there's an understanding between us as actors that on the day that we work, there is a certain dynamic that we strike, but I'm getting to know them both as people, and they're amazing. I just love them as actors, and I'm really excited about working with them all the time and how psychological the work is."Link: Matthew Fox Talks Lost, Vantage Point - ComingSoon.net

Look Ahead to "Cost of Living" [rumors/spoilers]
A delirious Eko wrestles with demons from his past, while Locke and other castaways head to the Pearl, one of the Dharma Initiative's island stations, in search of a computer they can use to locate Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Meanwhile, Jack doesn't know whom to trust when two of the Others seem at odds with each other.OK, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this week the important part is going to lie with John and crew as they go back to the Pearl.
Now there's been rumors that someone is going to bite the dust this week. I've not been able to ascertain who that might be. Rumor has it its going to be "a regular." Take that for what you will. Might it be Eko? If the "in trouble with the law" curse holds it may well be. Personally I hope the writers aren't going to just "off" somebody, let alone a regular, without good reason. You don't expend a bunch of screen time building up a character and then just say, "bye!" The four we've lost (ha!) so far weren't built up that much, nor have they played particularly important parts in the story (Shannon being the only possible exception.) Unless of course you're going to take a page from the Joss Whedon playbook and just do it anyway!
By now you've probably seen the previews. The big question (for me anyway) is *who the h-ll is that on the monitor with the eyepatch?!!* (I did see that right, didn't I?) And where is he? I'm guessing they catch a glimpse of him on the monitors in the Pearl. If anyone cares to speculate I'm all ears, I've got nothing on this one. Maybe somebody in another station? Maybe a DHARMA operative checking out whats left of the Swan?
So anyway, the purpose of the Pearl was to watch the "subjects" in the Swan hatch (and possibly other stations?), make notes and stuff them into little tubes to be taken away for review. Of course we learned that they just ended up in a big pile at the other end of the tube. In the Pearl there was also a printer, recording the times that the button was pushed (and of course when it wasn't.) Meaning that there must be a machine feeding that printer. We can assume this is what Locke is going after.
We can also surmise that the flashback must involve Eko, maybe to do with his brother, killed in the conveniently coincidental plane crash that covered the Pearl in the first place. Of course there is more time in between his brother leaving on that runway, him becoming a priest, and his arrival on the island we have not seen.
It would appear that this might be sort of a "cliffhanger" setting up next week's mid-season ender, as the description reads more into Locke's new mission.
And the bit about Jack? I'm guessing that's got something to do with the tension between Ben and Juliet. Exactly what is anyone's guess.
So yeah this week's speculation is pretty vague, and that's kind of a good thing. It means we really don't know what to expect. That's most of the fun here, right?!

LOST and Star Wars
Anyone notice the little quips and Star Wars reference that get occasionally dropped here and there? Here are the few I remember, there may be more, so feel free to add to the list or correct me.
So it seems somebody on the writing crew has a penchant for Star Wars!

[EDIT: 2/8/07] In "Not In Portland" (2/7/07) Sawyer talks about the "Wookiee Prisoner Gag" when they rescue Carl from the Clockwork-Orange room. Also, the room Carl is in is 23, which if you recall is similar to Princess Leia being held in detention block AA23. Of course 23 is one of "the numbers" also.
- The "Chewbacca" line Sawyer shoots off, I think in reference to Eko or Jin(?), not sure which episode or the context of it off-hand. From last season if I remember.
- When Michael is building the raft, he starts raving at Jin, "No! This one goes here, that one goes there, got it?" A quote from 'Empire' where Han and Chewie are working on the Falcon in the Hoth station.
- Sawyer's referred to Kate as "princess" on more than one occassion if memory serves.

LOST: "Every Man For Himself" [SPOILERS]
Well, its back to the Hydra again for more fun with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. We get a few brief glimpses back at the beach as well. Spoilers aplenty to follow.
I must say there's something about the adventures at the Hydra that, well, just aren't "doing it" for me. I don't know if there's a different writing team handling this plotline, or if maybe they're just not sure what they're doing? It just seems a little vague and pointless right now. Hopefully that will change, and we'll all get that "aha!" we're looking for....

Writing 'Lost'
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette runs a brief article where they talk with Javier Grillo-Marxauach, a former writer for LOST among others.
Interesting how things get moved around and changed, although I'm sure the process is probably similar for just about any show.

Another One Bites The Dust?! [SPOILER!]
From "Ask Ausiello" on TVguide.com...
Technorati Tags: lost, television, tv, abc, characters, dead, death, spoilers
Question: The preview for tonight's Lost was intense. Please tell me Sawyer is going to be OK!â?? ShannonOh noes! Not another one! Let the haphazard guessing commence! There are some characters which are just too pivotal to the show to get rid of, so I'm wondering if its a "regular" but one of the lesser seen folk? Bernard? Better not be one of the "second rank" characters like Hurley or Eko (with an interesting story), or I'll be PO'd.
Ausiello: Sawyer's not the one you should be worrying about. (Spoiler Alert!) Next week, a major character (as in a series regular) whose name is not Sawyer will join Boone, Shannon, Ana Lucia and Libby in the big island in the sky. And you're not going to believe who it is. I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes.

LOST until February (possible spoilage)
So I'm wondering, after tonight we'll be 75% through this first "season 2.5" business, and I'm wondering if it will indeed "wrap up" anything at all?!
The rumor was that this first group of six episodes was to complete the story of "the hatch" and set things up for the real season three (now apparently set-in-stone to return *February 7*) which was to focus a lot more on "the others" and their interaction with our castaways.
So what's left?
We have, *next week*, "The Cost of Living" (from TV Guide)
I was under the impression (from various rumors and readings around the internets!) that we'd get to see a little more of this Penelope/Arctic Station story in the first half...
Next weeks flashback will undoubtably be with Eko, if the description is to be believed. That could prove interesting, as he's still somewhat of a mysterious figure. It's unclear who's flashback ep. 6 will hold as yet.
The bigger question is what does Locke find (assuming in the Pearl) that's so important? Anyone want to hazard a guess?

Jack makes a decision regarding Ben's offer; Kate feels helpless when it appears that Pickett (Michael Bowen) will carry out his threat to kill Sawyer; and Locke discovers a hidden message that may help him unlock the secrets of the island.OK so it looks like we might have something resembling a 'mid season finale' if you want to call it that, but are we closing up anything? It doesn't read like it. And who the h*ll is Pickett? One of the big guys Sawyer knocked around at the building site?

Look Ahead: "Every Man For Himself"
The "official" synop:
Looks like Ben is pretty well PO'd at Sawyer for planning (or maybe attempting?) an escape. Guess we'll find out just what Sawyer (and Kate) are made of here.
We could pretty much piece together from 'Glass Ballerina' that Jack was going to be asked to work on the recently-punctured Colleen. That's probably why Ben/Henry was buttering him up with all the talk of "going home." I'm guessing they (The Others) are without a doctor after Ethan's untimely demise at the end of Charlie's .45. (Remember Ethan and Claire in the now-abandoned medical station?)
I wonder how much attention this thing with Desmond will receive? And if it'll somehow tie into the Eko/Locke dynamic with their respective "missions"? Is he going to become the "strange old wizard" type now? Babbling incoherently, scratching his head "Rain Man" style and building mashed-potato mountains?
Thoughts?

Sawyer finds out how serious his captors are in making sure he and Kate don't attempt to escape.and from TV.com (and others)
The Others prevent Sawyer and Kate from escaping, leaving Sawyer perplexed by the extent of the measures taken to keep them imprisoned.I've heard that we'll get either a Sawyer or Kate flashback. I haven't looked too hard into the matter but either would make sense. I'm betting on Kate having to come to grips with admitting she loves Sawyer, as in the preview....
Jack is asked to use his medical training to save the life of one of the Others.
At the beach, Desmond's strange behavior attracts attention. He begins to construct a mysterious device.

Hanso Legal Services?
So I'm checking out my last post there, to make sure it posted correctly, yadda yadda, and I see this in one of the ad blocks...

Is that just not the goofiest damned thing? Anyone have any idea what that is about? "Airline Accident Cases" ha! Wonder if that last bit has any kind of relevance for the show? "Genetic Cloning Malpractice."
Just. Weird.
