LOST: "D.O.C." [SPOILERS]
In this week's installment, we see Sun discover the parentage of her baby! She's now faced with a difficult choice, and an ominous fate. For a moment at least, it looked like it was a choice she has had to make before.
We're also given a couple of heavy surprises. Truthfully, I'm unsure what to make of them!

Francois Chau Interview
Those lucky dudes over at The Tail Section interveiwed Francois Chau, known to you and I as Mr. Marvin Candle or the more mysterious Wickmund (Wickman? eh.)
Link: TheTailsection Talks to Dr. Marvin Candle
The idea that Dr. Candle had a prosthetic arm was in the fan community for a long time before the producers admitted that he did, indeed, have a prosthetic arm. Did you have to play that scene with a fake hand, or is that just good body work from you? Thanks, TS!
Ah yes! the prosthetic arm! I was just told, " Hey, you've got a fake arm. Can you just do something, but don't make it a big thing." I just have to remember to hold my hand to my side when I'm filming.

Over The Rainbow, or... Off The Deep End
The Doc goes absolutely insane this week with talk of mysterious time traveling interviews with Mr. Mythology, Joseph Campbell. Along with an exploration of the Henry Gale persona and a spinoff thereof.

Gale â?? and I'm not referring to Ben Linus. I'm talking about the guy
that's buried in the grave under the hot-air balloon in the tree, the
one with the driver's license that showed us the face of an
African-American man and a Minnesota address and the name ''Henry

Speed Racer. *Shudder* Ick.brothers'siblings' live-action update of the 1960s 'toon Speed Racer. LOST 101
Wow. At first I was all, "cool!" Then I read the actual description of the class, and instead of an insightful journey into the literary and classical mythology allusions present in the show, the "Hero's Journey", "Good vs. Evil", An examination of redemption and character development...
... its a bunch of gook about (at least one time) fans influencing the show, and how its become a cult phenomenon. Man.

Earning academic credit while talking about television sounds too goodEconomic and social topics indeed. What is the world coming to.

and Chadwick Matlin , a Tufts senior and fellow die-hard "Lost" fan,

I'll Have My Noodles Well Done, Please
Doc Jensen gives us his take on "Catch-22", and totally blew me away with this little tidbit of Biblical scholar trivia....
I'd also comment, that since Doc's never seen "Bridge on the River Kwai" (dude! See it!)
It's about a group of British held prisoner by the Japanese, and who band together and find hope and "a purpose" in properly building a railroad bridge for a woefully inept Japanese officer in charge of the operation. You could almost draw a parallel between this and Locke's mission to man the hatch.
The kicker, at the end, the mission to rescue them ends up blowing up the bridge they've worked so hard on, and are so proud of, and kills the British prisoners' leader.
But not before he realizes the madness of what he and his gang have done, and ends up pushing the handle on the detonator himself, further closing the parallel to Locke's blowing up the hatch.
Pure genius.

The noodle cooker: Ruth and Naomi In ''Catch 22,'' the characters Ruth and Naomi have nothing to do with each other. But in The Bible, they are the stars of the Book of Ruth. Well, it just so happens that the book right before Ruth is the Book of Judges. The very last story in the Book of Judges is the story of a war among the tribes of Israel. The bad guy in this story: the Tribe of Benjamin. The war started over a murder that the other tribes believed needed to be avenged; it ended with the near-obliteration (''The Purge,'' perhaps?) of the Benjaminites. Here's where it gets creepy: In the aftermath, the people of Israel felt badly about wiping out Benjamin's people. So they decided to repopulate his tribe by forcing the women from another city to join the tribe of Benjamin. You know: to make babies and stuff.Awwww, man. That's just good. Very.

LOST: "Catch-22" [SPOILERS!]
Not quite as esoteric as "Flashes Before Your Eyes," "Catch-22" was another strange and wonderful look into the new-found time-seeing abilities of our favorite Scotsman, Desmond.
I have to say it was an interesting journey, and a grisly look at yet another of Charlie's "almost" fates. It also revisited Desmond's "theme" - if you will - of destiny vs. free will, as well as touching on his self imposed sentence of cowardice.
And a surprising event occurs which quite possibly is the most important event that's happened on the island this season....

A bit about how he ended up on the show, and his insights into Desmond.
Like the mysterious Desmond Hume, whom he plays on "Lost," actor Henry Ian Cusick has a knack for timing.Link: Timing is everything for 'Lost' actor | TheNewsTribune.com | Tacoma, WAWhen he auditioned for "Lost" (10 p.m. Wednesdays, ABC) right after its first season, he didn't know much about the series. He had read a few pages of a script, was intrigued and knew he wanted to be on the show.
