Express Train to Hell

Dammit, Doc!  How much spare time do you have on your hands, anyway?!

EW's Doc Jensen's weekly LOST exposition this time goes above and beyond the call of duty, reading more like a philosophy grad student thesis than a "teaser."

Playing off the core ideology of the philosphers Nietzsche and Kierkegaard, he presents the theory of what's going on, which will quite simply blow your mind, and might actually make you want to pick up a book and read some of this stuff.  Well, if you've got as much time as the Doc perhaps!
If only there was a place in the world â?? an Island in the South
Pacific, perhaps â?? where time could stand still, where we could retreat
to ponder the forces that have shaped our lives and remake ourselves
into better, self-actualized individuals that exist in harmony with
ourselves, our fellow man, and our environment. And then, after this
long, self-improving time-out, we could rejoin the world as we left it,
better equipped to live more loving, reasonable, and faithful lives.
I'm going to go back and read that again, and then go join a monastery or something.  There are some spoilerish aspects to the article, so fair warning.

Preview of Things to Come

BuddyTV has the episode synops for everything up to the end of this season.  Spoilers?  Yeah, probably so.  OK, definitely.  Here are some highlights and teaser versions....

.
.
.

Still here? OK, then.

Catch 22: Desmond gets a flash of the future.  This episode will close with Desmond and the gang finding a mysterious parachutist named Naomi.

D.O.C.: Desmond and his crew scramble to save the life of the mysterious Naomi and are assisted by an old enemy....

The Brig:
Locke slips away from the others and lures Sawyer away from the beach. Also looks like some 'current time' flashback action... hm.

The Man Behind The Curtain: The past of the island is explored.  All I'm going to say.

The Truth About Lying / The Greatest Hits: Rescue is finally at hand for the survivors of Oceanic 815?  Wha?  Surely not!

Through The Looking Glass: The big 2-hr finale.
This episode promises a Jack revelation of legendary proportions!

Catch-22 Spoilers and Speculation

Lots of murmurings about what's going to be in 'Catch-22'... and lots of spoilers if you need to know.

.
.
.

What we know for sure is that it's a Desmond-centered episode and will probably feature another temporal adventure "flasharound" if you want to call it that.

"Can't I have a little bit of the spoilers?"

I'm not even going to quote anything here, its just too spoilerous.

What Made Rousseau Different?

OK, so after last night's revelation that pregnant women on the island will just up and die unless given Juliet's magic serum...

...why did Rousseau survive?  I believe the story was that Alex was born after her arrival.  She should have perished, and Alex should never have been born.

Theory 1: Something happened on the island to change things.  Possibly the "incident" recorded on the blast door map?  Something else entirely?

Theory 2: She was at one point abducted or taken in by The Others/DHARMA and given an older vaccine.  This would have to be a different vaccine as Juliet hadn't arrived on the island yet.  Doesn't really make sense.

Theory 3: Alex was conceived on the island?  Maybe that makes a difference?  We know that Ben claims to have been on the island "all his life."  In that case either Alex is the daughter of one of the passed-on members of Rousseau's expedition, or she is in fact Ben's daughter, and this whole "daddy" thing is in fact true.

Theory 4: Mix Theories 1 and 3 and shake vigorously.  Add olives and/or lemon to taste.

Sound plausible?  Any other opinions on what could be going on?

LOST: "One of Us" [SPOILERS]

Well, maybe I was hyped up too much from reading Doc Jensen's "Greatest Episode Evar!" article or something, but "One of Us" didn't pack the punch it should have.  Were there lots of answers?  Eeehhhh, maybe.  A couple, OK a few... but as usual more questions were brought up....

This episode was mostly about Juliet's flashback, which was plot-focused, rather than character-focused, in my opinion.  I dunno, I've got mixed feelings on these "plot" flashbacks.  They're going to be necessary in order to make things make sense, but they lack the "completeness" the character-focused ones do, which connect the characters more to their circumstances.

Get Your Own DHARMA Polar Bear

Thanks, Boing Boing!

Now you can amaze your friends with your very own puzzle-solving, DHARMA agent-eating polar bear!  The original bear (well the head anyway) from the series awaits you all! With big nasty sharp pointed teeth!

Scroll down the page to stock #6225....

Of course the idea is to use it for actual shooting (with cameras, not rifles!) purposes it seems! :)  Not exactly priced for a weekend party...  Or you could have your own made for a mere ~$14 big ones.

Oooo, what if the polar bears on the island aren't real at all, but merely animatronic Disneyland versions...  (yeah don't get carried away, man!)

Who Are We?

Yikes, Ol' Doc Jensen yet again prevails with his LOST wisdom...  There's a lot to chew on here, folks.  Some of it could be considered spoilerish, so fair warning.

...
Tonight, you will learn how Juliet came to the Island, and why the Others so desperately needed her miracle-grow baby-making science. You will learn more about Ethan's infiltration of the castaway encampment in season 1. You will learn how the Others know so much about the
castaways. And the ending... well, it's killer. The episode is filled with sharp writing, stunning cinematography, and great performances. It is a weird, wicked, wonderful hour of television.
Hello!  Hopefully he's right!

"One of Us" Press Release

Here's the official word from the source on tomorrow's episode, "One of Us."  It looks like a Juliet flashback, but I think we could gather that from what we've heard, and from the re-appearance of Juliet's sister Rachel, the mysterious yet probably-most-important Richard Alpert, Ethan, and Goodwin.  Surprisingly, Mikhail makes a return!  And also featuring the debut of "Other Dude!" :)  (Unknown if that's "Other" as in "The Others" or just some random dude...)

I wonder how Mikhail figures into Juliet's back story.  We didn't see the two of them together on the island... yet.  He obviously figures in somehow.  Maybe the two of them were brought there together?  Suppose he'll have both eyes?  And how'd he lose it if so?

And "the sickness"... Do you suppose this is the sickness that afflicted Rousseau's party, and that the DHARMA vaccines are for?  I guess Juliet will probably be able to fill us in, if she's so inclined that is.  I also wonder if this will shed any light on the events Claire experienced in the now-abandoned "Medical Station?"
JACK'S REUNION WITH HIS FELLOW SURVIVORS IS LESS THAN JOYOUS WHEN HE IS ACCOMPANIED BY ONE OF "THE OTHERS," AND CLAIRE IS STRICKEN BY A MYSTERIOUS, LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESS, ON ABC'S "LOST"

"One of Us" - Jack's joyous reunion with his fellow survivors is cut short when they realize that accompanying him is one of "The Others," and Claire is stricken by a mysterious, life-threatening illness, on "Lost," WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

"Lost" stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Ben, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie and Terry O'Quinn as Locke.

Guest starring are Robin Weigert as Rachel, William Mapother as Ethan Rom, Brett Cullen as Goodwin, Andrew Divoff as Mikhail, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Joah Buley as other dude and Tyrone Howard as airport guard.

"One of Us" was written by Carlton Cuse & Drew Goddard and directed by Jack Bender.

Another "wow!" from the peanut gallery!  Let's hear it for well written and tightly-themed episodes!
