I guess you could say this one was mostly a "prelude" to next weeks big finale. Lots of plotting, lots of story mechanics, and a touching look into Charlie's past... read on for the whole spoilerific take on "Greatest Hits." And don't forget to check out the recap thread for all the details....

They pretty much set up the big Others' invasion for us here, I mean they're to come in, go to the marked tents, and promptly get blown to smithereenies by the well-placed dynamite. Why do I not think its going to be that simple? Because nothing's ever that simple on TV, especially where LOST is concerned!

Seriously, it is nice to see little plot mysteries like Rousseau taking the dynamite from the Black Rock explained. Just the little ones mind you. Those things where you go "Eh?" and then later, "Ah!" For a while they let those things just kind of wither on the vine if you will....
Did anyone else hear Karl say something to Alex about "bringing rabbit?" Was I just totally mis-hearing something there? Does it relate to Ben's rabbit? Or the newly revealed "Looking Glass" station? Please tell me I heard that wrong because that one is just weird!
I think we finally got an answer as to whether Ben is really Alex's father or not. A big resounding No! He may have raised her, but her comment to Karl, and the look he returned was all the answer I needed there....
But onto bigger better things, like "The Looking Glass" station. First, why the departure from the classical greco-roman mythological naming scheme?! So far that's how the names have rolled, the Staff/Caduceus (medical station), the Hydra (from Hercules' myth), the Arrow (also related to Hercules), the Swan (Cygnus, but that could have more to do with the black hole than anything!) and the Flame, well, could go either way.
And now this? A rabbit with a big black dot? Eh?! I'm totally confused now! So much for the "constellation" station theories!
Heh, I guess we should start calling it "Coney Island" now? (groan! hiss! boo!)
Really though, why call this station "The Looking Glass?" Unless
this is the "doorway" into LOST-land from reality, just as Alice's looking glass was her doorway into the fantastic. Don't ask me what that means yet!
Telling, also, is that the LG station is in fact manned (or womanned rather) and operational, much to the contradiction of what Ben had told Juliet. Assuming she's not lying again. Is Ben keeping this station a secret?
I also wonder if we're not supposed to make a connection between Charlie's little Helsinki adventure (winkwink-nudgenudge-saynomore) to his present/future predicament onboard TLG station? Seemed like a setup to me!
All in all, other than the Alex-Ben connection, I don't think we got many more questions or answers really.
Except for Charlie's flashback to Covent Garden. That one really stuck out, didn't it? Charlie was there on the street corner, and it started to rain, but this time Desmond wasn't there. Was this how it was supposed to happen? Was this how it actually did happen and Desmond's little time-jaunt didn't?
And what of Nadia's appearance, yet again?! She keeps turning up in the strangest places, and this time she's crossed path with *two*, no make that
three if you count Naomi (she was from Charlie's borough if you recall) other folks on the island at more or less the same time!!! We need to start keeping track of her, because its starting to look like there's more to her connections than meets the eye! Kelvin, Locke, Sayid, now Charlie, maybe a couple more I'm forgetting.... yikes!
Who is "Dexter Stratton" anyway? If you recall that was what the "DS" on Charlie's ring stood for, and how they came up with the band name "Driveshaft." It's explained that its come from somewhere in Charlie's mother's past.... A future connection to be made perhaps?
It was nice to see Charlie step up and take control of his destiny in the face of certain death here. As a character he's grown and evolved almost more than any of the rest. He's gone from the snivelling whiny little drug-addict rockstar, to a responsible hero figure. Go, Charlie! I thought for a few moments that C&D were actually going to end it for him, and us. And I actually would have bought it! I guess they've still got two more hours in which to affect his demise, but I certainly hope not.
Counting the hours until "Through The Looking Glass!!!"
There were SO many connections between last night's Lost and Kierkegaard's Leap of Faith philosophy - Actually, there are so many connections between the whole season and the Leap of Faith. I think though that we saw Charlie go through all of the stages of Kierkegaard's human development last night (the aesthetic - in bed with the groupies, the ethical - not allowing Desmond to take his place in swimming to the Looking Glass, and the religious - taking the "leap of faith" off of the boat, knowing in his heart that doing so will save the others even though there was no gaurantee other then Desmond's vision)
