Well, um, uh. Yawn. Sorry guys, but I wasn't too blown away by this one. Good? Yes, but just in a "not bad" kind of way. Really there were only a couple of noteworthy moments, including the revelation of one more of the Oceanic Six. I think. Read on for the whole shebang.
On The IslandEr, well, on the island the action was pretty mundane this time around. I could go through the motions but I'll just make this short and sweet.
- Ben pushes Locke's buttons, and Locke throws Ben's breakfast against the wall.
- Kate hoodwinks Hurley into giving up the location of Miles. He's in the "boat house," which if you ask me bears a slight resemblance to Jacob's shack.
- Miles agrees to tell Kate what he knows about her, if Kate will help him get to Ben.
- Sawyer helps her to get to Miles.
- Kate takes Miles to see Ben, and Miles tries to blackmail him to the tune of 3.2 million (insert Dr. Evil quotes) dollars for Miles to walk away.
- Kate gets banished for her evil deeds, and instead shacks up with Sawyer for the night.
- They have the obligatory fight and she smacks him, and heads back to the beach.
- On the beach, Juliet convinces Faraday to contact the boat on the emergency channel, since the normal channel doesn't seem to be working.
- Faraday and Charlotte are playing some sort of memory game with a deck of cards.
- Sayid, Frank, and Desmond haven't yet arrived on the boat, despite having left yesterday.
- Locke sticks a grenade in Miles' mouth back in the boathouse, "Keep your mouth shut!"
Off The Island- Kate's back on trial for the crimes she committed before the crash. Yes, this is the future Kate.
- Some guy shouts something at Kate as she's entering the courthouse, did anyone catch it?
- Lawyer wants to put "him" on the stand. We learn that the "him" is really her son.
- Jack shows up at the trial, unbeknownst to Kate, at the request of her lawyer. Testifies on Kate's behalf that she's not the criminal everyone thinks she is. Oh, and that he doesn't love her. Not anymore.
- Jack also lets slip that there were eight of them that survived the crash, (at least that's the story) but two of them died on the island.
- Future-Kate strikes a deal with her mother. She won't testify if Kate lets her see her grandson.
- The deal must've been struck, because the prosecution can't call Kate's mom due to "medical reasons," and strikes a no-jail-time bargain. Kate signs off on it. "I have a son, I'm not going anywhere."
- As she's leaving, she meets Jack in the parking garage. Apparently he wants to see her, but she declines because he apparently doesn't want to "see the baby." Is it Jack's son? Hmm.
- Final scene, Kate arrives at her house, goes up to her son's room. It's a little blonde kid (could it be?) "Hi, Mummy," he says in a slightly Ozzie-sounding accent.
"Hi, Aaron." She says. and with that, BONK.
And really that's about all there is to it. Short on details, but there really weren't any significant details or important bits that I didn't cover above. Was this episode a victim of the writer's strike perhaps? I dunno, but it just didn't "do it" for me.
There are some minor details which don't involve the story I'll touch on in the analysis thread, coming soon.
