LOST: There's No Place Like Home, Pt. 2 [RECAP]

(The recap for part one can be found here!)

Well, this is getting interesting. Mysterious new names, new DHARMA stations, gobs of C4, and those guys who just won't die...

So with the last two parts of this, I think instead of breaking things apart into their separate stories, I'm just going to go along 'as it happened' if you will. There were enough little flash fragments tossed in to make it otherwise confusing. So here goes!

"We have to go back, Kate! We have to go back!"

Kate slams on the brakes and backs the car back up. We're back at the point we left at the end of last season.

"We have to go back? Who do you think you are? You call me for two days straight, and then talk to me about Jeremy Bentham? You believed him of all people?"

"It was the only way to keep you safe, you and aaron..." Kate slaps him. "Don't you say his name. I still have to explain to him why you're not there." "Sorry." "I've spent three years trying to forget all those horrible things that happened, how dare you ask me to go back."

She gets back into the car and speeds off, leaving Jack slightly shocked.

...

"Are you sure you're going the right way? Slow down! You're about to keel over!" Sawyer tells Jack as they arrive at The Orchid. "What's the plan, Sundance?"

They hear a noise, pull their guns and turn around to find Hurley taking a whiz. "Dude! You came back!" "So where the hell is he?" Hurley gets a strange grin on his face. They go up into the greenhouse to find Locke poring over the flowers. "Hello, Jack!"

....

"There's enough C4 here to blow up an aircraft carrier!" Desmond surmises, and tells Michael and Jin about his demolitions training. They figure out the bomb is on a remote detonator.

....

Locke tells Jack about the hidden DHARMA station, and that he's looking for a way in. "Jack, you need to hear what I have to say." Jack is adamant about getting the people off the island, and Locke tells him that Keamy is taking Ben to the Helicopter. "Why the hell would he do that?"

....

"What is it that makes you so important?" Ben smirks at Keamy's question. "I'm curious as to why Widmore would pay me so much money to bring you back alive."

They come across Frank still trying to get out of his cuffs. While they're trying to figure out how he got the toolbox, Kate comes running out of the jungle. "I'm being chased, by his people," she points to Ben, who gets one of those looks. Frank realizes this is a trap and gets down. And the whispers start.

Keamy's men start going down one by one, until the firefight starts. Ben and Kate take off into the jungle, with Keamy giving chase. Suddenly Sayid tackles him, and the battlel royale begins. Super GI Sayid vs. the Mercenary!! Just as Keamy is about to choke Sayid out, Alpert comes up and shoots him in the back. Sayid is not at all pleased with this new alliance, but Ben takes it in stride.

"What was the arrangement?" "They help us free you and they can go." "Fair enough," Ben says, slightly annoyed. "You and Sayid have a safe trip." "So we can go? That's it?" "Thats it."

....

Hurley gets a visitor in the asylum. It's Walt's grandmother, and behind her, is Walt. She "clears" Hurley to talk to Walt.

"You know when you came back, I was waiting for one of you to come see me, but no one did." "Sorry, dude." "You know who did come see me? Jeremy Bentham." Hurley looks around nervously and tells him to hush.

"I don't understand why you're all lying." "We're lying because its the only way to protect the people we left behind." "Like my dad?" "Like your dad, yeah."

.....

After kicking Sawyer and Hurley out for a minute, Jack and Locke have more important things to discuss. "I want you to reconsider leaving the island, Jack. I'd like you to stay." "You'd like me to stay?" Jack and Locke trade reasons why neither should be trusted. "But lets let bygones be bygones. You're not supposed to go home."

"What was it you said on your way to the hatch? Crashing here was our destiny?"

"You know we're here for a reason. If you leave, that knowledge will eat you alive until you come back." "Goodbye, John."

"You're going to have to lie, about everything. It's the only way to protect the island." "It's an island John it doesn't need protecting." "It's not an island," John says with a widening grin, "Its a place where miracles happen. If you can't believe that, just wait until you see what I'm about to do."

"There's no such thing as miracles." "Well, we'll just have to see which one of us is right."

"Am I interrupting?" It's Ben. "Nice you see you too Jack. You couldn't find the (something!) flowers, huh?"

Locke shrugs, "I don't know what they look like!" Ben finds the elevator. "Didnt' you tell him?" he says to Locke. "I tried." "Sayid and Kate are waiting for you at the helicopter, Jack. If i were you I'd be on that boat within the hour." Jack turns and leaves.

"Lie to them, Jack. If you do it half as well as you lie to yourself, they'll believe you."

Locke and Ben get in the elevator, close the door, and start their descent.

....

Back on the freighter, Jin tells Michael that she's pregnant. He seems to be saddened by it, but feigns a congratulations. He goes below with a canister of liquid nitrogen. The plan is to freeze the battery so it can't power anything at all. They note if the light turns red, its all over.

.....

Daniel Faraday returns to the beach with the Zodiac. Rose and Miles have an exchange of words. "I'm going to keep my eye on you, shorty" she tells him.

Faraday tells Charlotte and Miles that they need to be on the next trip. Miles intends to stay, and remarks he's surprised that Charlotte isn't staying. "After all the time you spent trying to get back here."

"What do you mean?" "Hmmm. What do I mean?"

....

"How deep is this station?" "Deep." The elevator stops at the end of a dark corridor. Ben turns on the power to reveal the familiar greenish concrete walls of the DHARMA initiative. "Is this the magic box?" "What? No, John its not." "What is all this stuff for?" "The smae thing the rest are for, silly experiments." "What kind of experiments?" Annoyed, Ben goes over to a VCR and monitor, and in a condescending tone tells Locke to watch a video, and opens a strange looking door in the wall.

The video is of the same guy we've come to know from the other station films, only this time his name is Edgar Halliwax. "This is the vault, constructed adjacent to a pocket of what we believe to be negatively charged exotic matter. It's highly volatile and unpredictable. Metallic objects must never be placed into the vault."

Locke notices Ben throwing all sorts of metallic stuff in there, trash cans, chairs. The video explains that they're going to shift a rabbit 100ms forward in time, and just then the tape appears to go in fast foward, or is it reverse? It's hard to tell. Locke switches it off.

"Is he talking about what I think..." "If you're talking about time travelling bunnies, then yes." "You know he said specifically not to put metal in...."

Then they hear the elevator door shut, and it starts going back to the surface. "You expecting someone?" "May I have my weapon back?" Ben asks nervously.

....

Back at the helicopter, they free Frank from his cuffs, and triumphantly take off towards the freighter.

...

The elevator door opens again at the bottom. A seriously injured Keamy gets out. He explains to the darkness about his "insurance policy" strapped to his arm. It's a dead-man switch, which will detonate the bomb on the boat if he dies. Locke comes out, and distracts him. Just then, Ben comes out of another door and proceeds to beat the life out of Keamy, with John yelling for him to stop.

"You know you just killed everybody on the boat!" "So?"

....

Charlotte tells Daniel that she's changed her mind, and that she's staying on the island, for now. "If you don't come with me now, it could be forever." "Nothing's forever. Would it make any sense if I told you I was still looking for where I was born?"

Juliet has decided to stay until the next trip as well. "I'll still be here when you get back." "Right, right, when I get back," Faraday says. The next batch of Losties takes off towards the freighter. "Off we go!"

......

Jin, Desmond, and Michael are still frantically trying to deactivate the bomb. They're quickly running out of liquid nitrogen, and hit another snag. "We'd better get everyone the hell off this boat!"

.......

In the helicopter, Frank notices the fuel gauge dropping fast. They took a bullet to the tank in the firefight, and they start tossing out everything they can to reduce the weight. "Can we make it?" "I'd feel better if we were a couple hundred pounds lighter!" "Don't go back to the island!" "We may not have a choice, doc!"

"Hey!" Sawyer yells, and leans over to whisper something in Kate's ear. "Why are you telling me this?" she says, and they exchange one last kiss. "Just do it, Freckles." And then he jumps out into the water.
