LOST: This Place is Death [Analysis - SPOILERS!]
Well, if you've seen the episode and/or read the recap, you know there's a lot here to take in. A lot to think about. Really, I promise!

Faraday's Mother
One thing that struck me as being very curious, and that was made briefly apparent.... is that Ben does not know that Hawking is Faraday's mother. When was the last time there was something Ben didn't know about. Mr "I always have a plan" didn't see that one coming....
...also interesting is that Jacob/Christian knows who she is and what she can do....
Smokey
Hrm, was it just me or did ol' smokey's sound effects seem a little too obviously mechanical this time? It sounded like a heavy rusty chain or machinery or something being cranked. A giveaway as to the real nature of this beast? I know its been discussed before, but there are too many other supernatural aspects to the monster that can't be explained away like that....
The Temple
Was the heiroglyphic-covered structure we saw "The Temple" we've heard so much about? There's likely more to this story, but someone else might be able to answer this question:
Was that crack the same crack that Locke went down into and found the DHARMA skeletons and the toys? The "polar bear" cave from waaaay back when? That was the first thing I thought of, before they revealed the building around it. I'd have to find that episode and check, but I'm thinking it was.
Robert the Frenchman
How is it that they managed to escape "The Temple" and then seemingly know all about Smokey's function as a security system? That wasn't all that far in the future from the encounter, as we saw whatshisname's arm hadn't gone too far south.... and what of "the sickness?" Did they learn something in the temple that changed them mentally or emotionally? WHAT IS DOWN THERE?!?!
Eloise Hawking
Nice touch with the names. Shame on Faraday, though, for naming a lab rat he knew would probably die after his mum! Unfortunately we didn't learn any more about her, except that she has a large brooch collection. She wasn't wearing the "Oroborus" one, but something that looked like a cross or something.
And will she recognize Desmond? Does he have to go back?
Ji Yeon
Big question: Does she have to go back? Why do I get this feeling that the six will return, and old Jacob will be like, "Nope, sorry, you're not all here! Duh!"
Charlotte and Faraday (and Miles)
OK, so she did grow up on the island. She was part of DHARMA, at least her parents were. I'm betting that Miles was too, that's just becoming more obvious. He's probably the Changlet we saw at the start of the season.
But here's my theory, probably already confirmed someplace else: Faraday is Charlotte's father. The one she couldn't remember. The "crazy little man" and he are one in the same. We know he was there about the time of DHARMA and Dr. Chang, which would line up timewise.... We saw him during the Orchid construction. It would also explain his feelings towards Charlotte, and her somewhat unconcious acceptance of it. It never really felt like a "in love" kind of thing, but more brother-and-sister... or father-and-daughter.
The Well
Alright, so who put the well there, and why? Discuss!! Was it the "Others"? Another group? WHO?
Suppose there's any sort of Judeo-Christian reference going on here between Locke and Joseph? I think so.
Read this article and get back to me. Jacob. Well. Favorite son. Being plotted against, thrown down the well, and rescued by his older brother ReuBEN. OK, so that last little bit might be a stretch.
Christian Shepard/Jacob
Notice the lantern? Yeah, everytime we've seen Jacob/Christian its been there. Symbolic? Dunno, but it means something (which I guess would make it symbolic by definition!)
Interesting also Jacob's little quip about Ben. Did Jacob never really trust Ben? What gives?
Locke
Again with the legs. So where will John, I mean Jeremy turn up on the outside? In Tunisia like Ben? (oooh, just thought of something!) Or someplace else?
Random Thought of the Day (See Above)
So if the frozen donkey wheel takes you to Tunisia, which isn't really all that far away from Egypt, is it? Well its on the same continent anyway.... Just roll with it for a moment. Notice the heiroglyphs on the building, and on Ben's little door in his closet..... What if there's some sort of way back to the island through North Africa? The mind boggles.
Canton-Rainier Cleaning Service?
They don't throw stuff like that in our faces unless it means something, no matter how trivial. Anyone have a guess? Something to do with Hong Kong and Alaskan Volcanoes? Baseball and Frenchmen? Argh.
I can't help but think I'm forgetting something important. Let me know what that is, please!

oooh good catch on the 'reincarnation' / 'canton - rainier' didnt they say they had to take Locke with them to the island and implied in on of the episodes that he would be alive again there? (or maybe he'll be like Jack's dad was... dead but now a 'ghostly apparation guide' of sorts. Regardless they do this often, play on words, remember Locke in the Funeral Home that stood for 'flash forward'.
